Regain Your Bite and Confidence with All-on-4Ⓡ Dental Implants in Fargo Including All-on-X

We offer All-on-4 Dental Implants in Fargo, and more! Missing multiple teeth affects more than just your smile—it impacts how you eat, speak, and feel about yourself. If you’re tired of struggling with dentures that slip or dealing with gaps that make you self-conscious, All-on-X dental implants (or “Teeth in a Day”) might be the solution you’ve been searching for. This innovative treatment replaces an entire arch of teeth using just four to six strategically placed implants, giving you a complete, natural-looking smile. At Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery, Dr. Haas and Dr. Smart help patients rediscover the joy of eating their favorite foods and smiling without hesitation.

The beauty of this procedure lies in its efficiency and effectiveness. Instead of waiting months for traditional implants to heal, many patients walk out with temporary teeth the same day as their surgery. That’s a game-changer for people who want their lives back quickly.

What Makes All-on-X Different from Traditional Implants?

Traditional dental implants typically require one implant per missing tooth, which can mean eight to ten implants for a full arch replacement. That’s a lot of surgery, healing time, and expense. The All-on-X technique flips this approach on its head by using four to six implants positioned at precise angles to support an entire arch of prosthetic teeth.

The two front implants sit vertically in areas with denser bone, while the back two angle at about 45 degrees. This angled placement takes advantage of existing bone structure, avoiding important anatomical structures,  and often eliminates the need for bone grafting. This procedure can add months to your treatment timeline. The result? Faster healing, fewer appointments, and a quicker path to your new smile.

The All-on-X Dental Implants Procedure: What to Expect

Walking into an oral surgery appointment can feel intimidating, but knowing what happens helps ease those nerves. The experienced team at Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery guides you through each step with care and clear communication.

Your journey typically includes:

  • Initial consultation: Dr. Haas or Dr. Smart examines your mouth, takes 3D scans, and discusses your goals.
  • Treatment planning: The team designs your custom prosthetic and maps out implant placement
  • Surgery day: Under sedation, they remove any remaining damaged teeth, place the four to six implants, and attach a temporary set of teeth
  • Healing period: Over the next few months, your implants fuse with your jawbone through a process called osseointegration
  • Final restoration: Once healing completes, you receive your permanent, custom-crafted teeth from your regular dentist.

Most patients leave their surgery appointment with temporary teeth already in place. You can eat soft foods immediately. However, during the healing phase, we do not want you to chew anything firmer until those implants fully heal to your jawbone. Once your dentist switches out your temporary teeth for the final set, you will have no limitations on what you can eat.

Why Choose All-on-4 Dental Implants in Fargo?

This treatment offers advantages that go beyond just filling in gaps. For one thing, implants stimulate your jawbone like natural tooth roots do, preventing bone loss that makes faces look sunken over time. Denture wearers often notice their faces changing shape as bone deteriorates—implants stop that process.

The stability factor matters too. Unlike dentures that can slip during conversations or meals, All-on-X treatment stays firmly in place because it’s anchored directly to your jawbone. You won’t need messy adhesives or worry about embarrassing moments when your teeth shift at the worst possible time.

Maintenance is surprisingly straightforward. You brush and floss your implant-supported teeth like natural ones, though you’ll use special floss designed for implants. Regular checkups keep everything functioning properly, but you won’t deal with the soaking cups and special cleaning routines that dentures require.

Understanding the Investment in Your Smile

Let’s be honest—cost matters when considering a major dental procedure. All-on-4 dental implants Fargo represent a significant investment that typically costs less than placing individual implants for each missing tooth. The exact price varies based on factors like the condition of your jawbone, whether extractions are needed, and the materials used for your final prosthetic.

Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery works with patients to explore financing options that make treatment more accessible. Many dental insurance plans cover at least a portion of the procedure, and payment plans can spread costs over time. During your consultation, the team provides a detailed breakdown of expenses so you can make an informed decision without surprises.

What is the difference between All-on-X and All-on-4?

All-on-4is a registered trademark of Nobel Biocare, one of the world’s leading implant brands. The All-on-4technique was first described by Dr. Paulo Malo in 1998 and represented a groundbreaking shift in the way full arches were able to have all of the missing teeth replaced. Until this point, traditional implant techniques required 8 (or more) implants to replace all of the missing teeth from an arch often with extensive bone grafting procedures required as a preliminary step. Thanks to this technique, the process has become significantly more time-efficient, cost-effective, and predictable, most often eliminating the need for additional bone grafting. However, since All-on-4 is a trademarked term, it only applies when Nobel Biocare implants are being used. Nobel Biocare recognizes specific practices as “Centers of Excellence” to help guide patients to doctors with the necessary skillset and training to ensure the safest, most predictable and long-lasting teeth you can have. Prairie Oral and Facial Surgery is the only such center in the Fargo-Moorhead region All-on-4® Center of Excellence | Nobel Biocare United States

Since Dr. Malo described the technique in 1998, further advancements in the concept have been developed such as understanding that an upper jaw bone is much less dense than a lower jawbone. As a result, it is often recommended to have six implants to the upper jaw bone. Alternatively, sometimes special implants are used to engage bone outside of the traditional areas of implant training. Use of these implants requires very specialized training. With these updates, there are rarely cases where Dr. Haas and Dr. Smart cannot utilize someone’s existing bone for this technique. As a result of these updates, we typically use the term “All-on-X”, (for example, All-on-4 dental implants in Fargo), to reflect these modifications.

That being said, at Prairie Oral and Facial Surgery, we only use top of the line, world leading implant brands. Nobel Biocare and Straumann are two of the world’s leading implant brands. They are heavily tested and treated to ensure the most optimal outcome. We use all authentic implants and components and have local representative support with extensive training and experience in both systems.

Is All-on-X Right for You?

Good candidates for this procedure include people who are missing most or all of their teeth in one or both arches, those struggling with failing teeth that need extraction, and denture wearers seeking a more permanent solution. You’ll need adequate bone density in the front of your jaw, though the angled implant technique reduces the amount of bone needed compared to traditional methods.

Certain health conditions or habits might affect your candidacy. Uncontrolled diabetes, heavy smoking, or active gum disease can interfere with healing, though addressing these issues often makes treatment possible. Dr. Haas and Dr. Smart evaluate your situation during your consultation to determine the best approach for your needs.

The comprehensive services available at Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery mean you receive coordinated care from start to finish, with specialists who understand the full scope of oral surgery and dental implants.
