Our Doctor

After his graduation in 1991, he joined the faculty at the University of Chicago, where he was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery and the Department of Pediatrics. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally, and has participated in humanitarian efforts in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
He began his practice in the Red River Valley in 1999, and in addition to the general practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, he has a specific interest in dental implant reconstruction with challenging esthetic requirements.
Dr. May is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Board Certified) and a member of the
American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Dental Association. He has also been inducted as a
Fellow in the International College of Dentists.
His personal interests include, power lifting, target shooting, hunting and spending time with his boys, Harrison and Conor.
Our Surgical Assisting Staff
LuAnn D. – Surgical Assistant. LuAnn has over 25 years of experience assisting surgeons both in the office and at local hospitals. She has additional training and certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and also assists Dr. May in the operating room at Sanford Hospital. LuAnn coordinates all of our orthognathic surgeries.
Dawn H. – Surgical Assistant. Dawn has several years of experience assisting in oral surgery. Dawn currently holds assisting privileges at Sanford hospital and assists in the operating room with Dr. May. She coordinates vendor relationships for the practice.
Lisa V. - Surgical Assistant. Lisa has several years of experience working in a variety of dental specialties. Lisa has assisting privileges at Sanford Hospital and assists in the operating room with Dr. May. She facilitates student experiences for the practice.
Dawn V. – Implant Coordinator. Dawn has worked with Dr. May since he arrived in the Red River Valley. Dawn also holds assisting privileges at Sanford hospital and assists in the operating room with Dr. May. She coordinates all of our implant surgeries.
Our Support Staff
Amy L. - Patient Coordinator. Amy has many years of experience in the dental community. She enjoys meeting and greeting people
and is more than willing to assist you with any questions that you may have. Amy is committed to doing her best to make your
experience with Prairie Oral Surgery a positive one.
Susan I. - Finance Coordinator. Susan has several years of experience in the medical field, focusing on medical and dental
insurance, billing and reimbursement. She is well versed, in every spectrum, of dealing with insurance companies, which she handles daily. She is ready to assist you with financial payment arrangements, determining your insurance benefits, and understanding your bill.
Lisa N. - Office Administrator. Lisa has worked in Oral Surgery for over 10 years. She assists Dr. May and the staff in maintaining a
prosperous and efficient office. She also coordinates Dr. May's schedule and assists in distributing information throughout the office
and facility. She is responsible for planning events, luncheons and managing projects. She is also well-versed with our general office
equipment and in operating the HVAC system & energy management for the facility.
